Electrical standards update: BS 7671 and BS 7909
If you set up temporary power systems, operate generators, manufacture/hire distribution equipment or are planning a refurbishment of your venue, then you need to be aware of the coming changes in electrical Standards in the UK. Both BS 7671 (The IET Wiring Regulations) and BS 7909 (The Code of Practice for temporary power systems) are being revised in 2018 and there is a new IET site guide being written on generator practices and temporary systems to accompany its existing guidance. The changes are varied and affect all aspects of our industry so join this session to find out what’s new, what’s relevant and what can be safely ignored. Catch an expensive SPD, find out about the truth behind the requirement for metal cable ties or hear why generators might not need an Earth. This session is hosted by James Eade who will be joined by fellow industry experts.
